Principal's Message

Dear Mabel Park State School Community,
Talofa lava,
I would like to congratulate our students for the consistent improvement in engagement and behaviour that we have experienced across the school over the course of the year. This positive trend is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff and the support from our wonderful community. Well done to all of our students for their continued commitment to learning and upholding the values of our school.
A quick reminder to all parents and students: as the weather gets warmer, it's essential that every student comes to school wearing their hat as part of our school uniform. Our community takes great pride in our uniform, and wearing it correctly, including hats, is an important part of showing that pride.
A friendly reminder about our Fiafia Cultural Night being held at the Mabel Park SHS Performing Arts Theatre on Wednesday 4th September. This event is a fund raiser for our various cultural performance groups. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the school office.
Lastly, I am excited to announce that on Friday, 1st November, we will be celebrating our school's 50th anniversary. This is a significant milestone for our school, and we are planning a memorable celebration. Please mark this date in your calendars—more details will be shared soon!
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Kind regards,
Masina Taule’alo

Under 8s Day
Get ready for one of our favourite events of the year, especially designed for Prep to Year 2 students! Join us on Friday, September 6th, for a day full of fun, exploration, and creativity. We’ll dive into a world of engaging activities and exciting games. Parents are warmly invited to join in and share the joy with your little ones. It’s the perfect opportunity to create unforgettable memories together.
On the day of the event, please have your child go to their classroom to mark their name on the roll before we gather in the Resource Undercover Area at 9am to kick off the festivities. We look forward to seeing you there!

Year 1 English
Our Year 1 students are well into their Term 3 English unit. They have been reading a range of story books with different characters, then discussing what traits these characters have.
By the end of the term, they will be able to write a character description to describe how a character develops from the beginning of a story to the end of the story. They will write adjectives that describe how the character looks and acts at the beginning and end of the story and create an image of the character.
in each classroom, the students learning is supported by a learning wall. Take a look at some of the Year 1 learning walls…

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Each week, a particular focus area that aligns with our school values of TRUST, COURAGE and REPSECT is presented to all classes. Every day, students can earn Gotchas for displaying the school values.
For the safety of our students, all playground equipment is out of bounds before and after school. Students are to sit in their designated area before school.
Bikes and scooters are to be walked throughout school grounds.
Attendance
It has been fantastic to see so many students Here, Every day, Ready and On time.
Research shows that students who have good patterns of attendance are more likely to achieve at school. If students aren’t at school, they are missing valuable lessons. It is critical that student attendance remains a priority to support the teaching and learning that is taking place.
Learning starts at 8:40am every day. As part of our school policy, you are required to notify the school on the same day that your child is away and let the school know the reason for their absence. If we do not hear from you on the day your child is away, the school will send a text notification in the morning. It is important you keep us updated with any new home address, mobile number and email addresses. As a parent, your obligation is to reply to the text notification with your child’s name, class and reason for absence.
If your child is unwell and cannot come to school, please notify the school of your child's absence by:
- Ringing the school – 07 33865333
- Replying to the SMS sent by the school
- Writing a note explaining the absence
Unexplained Absence Letters have been sent out this week. Please return as soon as possible to your campus office.
