Newsletter Term 3 Week 3 2024
Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students
Talofa Lava,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am pleased to inform you that the trial of our new email system for report cards was a great success. Last week, all report cards were emailed out, and the feedback we’ve received has been positive. This new system has made it easier for parents to access their child’s results on various devices, and we are pleased with how smoothly the process ran.
A big congratulations to all our students for their dedication and hard work in Semester 1! Your effort and achievements are truly commendable. Congratulations to all those students who attained or exceeded their academic goals. For those who may be feeling disappointed with their academic results, remember that Semester 2 offers a fresh opportunity to set new goals and achieve your best. We are here to support and encourage you every step of the way.
Please note that our school photos will be taken on Monday, July 29th, and Tuesday, July 30th. To ensure a cohesive and professional appearance in the photos, all students are reminded to wear their full school uniform on these days.
This year is our school’s 50th Anniversary. We are planning a special celebration in Term 4. We would like community feedback and input into this event. We are holding a 50th Anniversary Community Forum next Wednesday at 3pm in the Resource Centre. All parents and carers are welcome.
Additionally, I would like to remind everyone to be vigilant and respectful in our carparks, especially after school. They can become quite busy, and it is crucial that we all do our part to ensure the safety of our students.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation. Let’s make the second semester a great one!
Kind regards,
Masina Taule’alo

School Photos
Our annual school photo days are coming up on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th July. We'd love to see everyone looking dazzling in their full school uniform on photo day, so check out the timetable below to see which day your child/ren’s class is scheduled for their individual and group photos. Don’t forget to bring your photo envelope with payment on the day. Please do not bring envelopes back early as we are unable to store envelopes with payments at school. Spare envelopes and sibling photo envelopes are available at either office.

Semester 1 Report Cards
All students Semester 1 report cards were emailed to parents on Friday 19th July. Please contact the school if you did not receive your child’s report card, or if you would also like a printed version of the report sent home with your child.
Keep warm!
It is definitely Winter here in Logan. While our classrooms are warm and toasty, it is very chilly outside. Please remind your children to wear their jumpers and long pants to school. We ask you to not to send your child in a hoodie, as these can become quite dangerous during running and chasing games in PE and at lunch breaks. Also, writing your child’s name on the tag or inside the collar is a great way to make sure their jumpers make it home again. We currently have a large collection of unnamed jumpers in lost property.
Middle Campus Deputy Principal

We are fast approaching the middle of term 3 wondering where the year has gone. Our year 5 and year 6 students have begun the term well by upholding our school values of Trust, Courage and Respect. We are very proud of the young adults they are becoming.
Student Council
Very excited to announce Student Council representatives are being selected over the next two weeks. We should be operating by week 5 this term with more information to come.
Secondary School
If you haven’t already now is the time to think about where your student is going for high school. The majority of our students do end up going to Mabel Park State High School due to the amazing programs they offer. However please note that different schools suit different students and there are many options out there. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or Sarah Williamson our Head of Department Student Services if you would like to organise a meeting to discuss options for high school. We are more then happy to help.
School Photos
School photos are on next Monday and Tuesday. Please encourage your student to wear their full school uniform on your photo day. A schedule will be posted on Facebook for parents and carers. Also, a reminder photo envelopes need to be brought in by students on the day of their photo.
Friday Sports Day
Our Year 5 and 6 students are very lucky to be able to participate in Friday Sport which begins this week! They got to choose from a vast range of activities to engage in. Activities such as Yoga, Dance, Art and Basketball are just a few of the many options provided. We are looking forward to ending our week with some fun leading into the weekend.
District Athletics
District athletics is next Tuesday 30 July. Students will need to be transported by parents and carers to and from this event.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Each week, a particular focus area that aligns with our school values of TRUST, COURAGE and REPSECT is presented to all classes. Every day, students can earn Gotchas for displaying the school values.
Our PBL Focus for Week 3 is: We Show Respect by Following Playground Expectations
Our PBL Focus for Week 4 is: We Show Respect by Moving Around the School Quietly
For the safety of our students, all playground equipment is out of bounds before and after school. Students are to sit in their designated area before school.
Bikes and scooters are to be walked throughout school grounds.
Attendance
It has been fantastic to see so many students Here, Every day, Ready and On time.
Research shows that students who have good patterns of attendance are more likely to achieve at school. If students aren’t at school, they are missing valuable lessons. It is critical that student attendance remains a priority to support the teaching and learning that is taking place.
Learning starts at 8:40am every day. As part of our school policy, you are required to notify the school on the same day that your child is away and let the school know the reason for their absence. If we do not hear from you on the day your child is away, the school will send a text notification in the morning. It is important you keep us updated with any new home address, mobile number and email addresses. As a parent, your obligation is to reply to the text notification with your child’s name, class and reason for absence.
If your child is unwell and cannot come to school, please notify the school of your child's absence by:
- Ringing the school – 07 33865333
- Replying to the SMS sent by the school
- Writing a note explaining the absence
Unexplained Absence Letters have been sent out this week. Please return as soon as possible to your campus office.
Before School Routines at Mabel Park State School
- Our bell rings at 8:40am. There is limited staff supervision in the mornings so please aim to arrive at school as close to the bell as possible.

- Students are to be sitting quietly, chatting with friends. It is not acceptable to be running around, playing with balls or yelling.
- When the bell rings, children move into their class lines and wait for their teacher to collect them. Learning begins straight away.
